New Program for Small-Scale Landlords

Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC), in partnership with Enterprise Community Partners, is proud to offer the Small-Scale Capacity Building Program Small Scale Landlord Program, —a powerful opportunity designed to help small landlords succeed while strengthening Brooklyn neighborhoods.

The SLCB Program is designed for owners of 2–20 unit residential buildings in Brooklyn who are looking to improve operations, plan for the future, and protect the long‑term health of their properties. Through hands‑on training and expert guidance, small landlords gain practical knowledge in property management, financial planning, building maintenance, regulatory compliance, and asset sustainability.

One of the most valuable benefits of participating (all of which are free) is a comprehensive physical assessment of the building, valued at $5,000 and provided at no cost to the landlord. This professional assessment helps owners better understand current conditions, identify capital needs, and plan strategically for repairs and improvements—information that can be transformative for a small landlord managing limited resources and seeking to improve cashflow.

In addition to technical support, the SLCB Program offers something equally important: connection. Participating small landlords have opportunities to meet virtually and in person with fellow landlords to discuss real‑world property management topics, share expertise, and learn from peers facing similar challenges. These exchanges build community, reduce isolation, and foster collective problem‑solving.

Rooted in a shared commitment to affordability and stability, NHSNYC and Enterprise support small landlords in preserving safe, high‑quality housing. Interested owners are encouraged to visit the program’s webpage Small Scale Landlord Program and complete and submit the interest form before the May 29, 2026 deadline to be considered.
