We operate the educational and membership support components and provide technical assistance for full-service property management to partners in our network.
NHSNYC’s Real Estate Collective has three components:

Property Management Courses
The Property Management Courses are a series of intensive, in-person classes designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills for managing residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. Ideal for job seekers, property owners, property managers, current and future landlords, and others, these courses provide the core principles needed to confidently navigate the field.
Participants will gain a working understanding of the role of a property manager and the day-to-day responsibilities that need to be met to manage different types of real estate. The course combines real-world examples, group discussions, and hands-on budgeting tools to help participants apply what they learn right away.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Define the responsibilities and expectations of a property manager
- Identify key differences in managing residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties
- Understand how to work with tenants, vendors, contractors, and on-site staff
- Learn the basics of building financials and property budgeting
- Interpret core financial terms like cash flow, NOI, and net income
- Understand leasing differences between commercial and residential units
- Explore licensing, education paths, and industry certifications (e.g., CPM, ARM, NYARM)
- Practice professional communication in real estate settings
- Learn how to break into the field or strengthen an existing role in property management

The course is taught in-person and includes interactive lectures, group discussions, and real-life case studies. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion and ongoing access to tools and resources through the Neighborhood Property Owners Club.

Neighborhood Property Owners Club
This membership-based program provides practical, ongoing support for people managing properties across NYC. Think of it as your on-call property partner you can call when things get confusing, costly, or stressful. NHSNYC will host and maintain the platform and deliver services directly. Whether caring for your own building or managing a rental, with NPOC, you’re never alone in the process.

Partner Referral Network
For property owners who prefer to delegate day-to-day responsibilities, NHSNYC will refer them to partner nonprofit organizations that offer full-service property management. These services may include:
- Rent collection and expense tracking
- Contractor coordination and repairs
- Communication with residents or tenants
- Property upkeep and legal compliance
NHSNYC will not operate these services directly, but instead will:
- Provide training, technical assistance, and a service framework to local nonprofits
- Maintain quality assurance and shared values across the network
