OceanFirst Foundation Presents $7,500 Grant to Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC)
Second Year of Partnership Supports Critical Operating Needs
[NEW YORK, NY] – Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC) is proud to announce that it has received a $7,500 general operating support grant from the OceanFirst Foundation. This generous contribution marks the second year OceanFirst has supported NHSNYC, reaffirming its commitment to meeting the needs of the community and providing critical resources where they are needed most.
Representatives from the OceanFirst Foundation, Katherine Durante, Executive Director, and Stephanie Toal, Director of Communications & Impact Marketing, visited NHSNYC’s Manhattan office on Tuesday, October 15, to formally present the check to the organization’s Executive Leadership. NHSNYC’s leadership team included Nedra Campbell, Director of Programs and Operations, Patricia Primo, Director of Homeownership, and Yuejuan (Jane) Weng, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. The group gathered for a check presentation and photos, celebrating the ongoing partnership between the two organizations.
“Partnerships like ours with the OceanFirst Foundation are essential to our ability to serve New York City’s low-to-moderate-income families,” said Nedra Campbell. “Unrestricted general operating support is the backbone of nonprofit sustainability. It gives us the flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the community, maintain essential programs, and ensure the stability of our organization in times of uncertainty.”
OceanFirst’s support directly impacts NHSNYC’s mission to provide affordable housing, financial education, lending services, and homeownership opportunities to New Yorkers in need. General operating funds allow the organization to allocate resources where they are most urgently required, ensuring that programs like the First-Time Homebuyer Education, Financial Capability, CDFI Lending Services, and Homeownership Preservation (Foreclosure Prevention) continue to thrive.
“OceanFirst Foundation proudly supports Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City because we believe that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home,” Katherine Durante, Executive Director of OceanFirst Foundation shared. “By investing in our neighbors, we strengthen our communities and create a brighter future for all.”
OceanFirst Foundation, established in 1996, focuses on building stronger and more vibrant communities by supporting a wide range of initiatives, including housing, education, youth and families, and health and wellness programs. Their partnership with NHSNYC underscores the importance of collaboration in creating long-term positive change for families across New York City.
