Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC) has acquired and launched the Registered in Apartment Management (RAM) program, a professional certification and training initiative designed to strengthen the property management skills of current and aspiring property managers, and support responsible housing stewardship across the city. Students who complete the course earn the right to use the RAM Designation after their name (ex. John Smith RAM), on their resumes, on stationery, etc., to indicate that they are property management professionals.
The RAM program provides comprehensive education for property managers, landlords, and real estate professionals who oversee apartment buildings, co-ops, and condominiums. Through coursework and certification, participants gain practical knowledge in key areas such as building operations, financial management, tenant relations, regulatory compliance, and property maintenance. The program equips professionals with the tools they need to manage housing effectively while maintaining safe, stable living environments for residents.
By bringing the RAM program under its umbrella, NHSNYC expands its mission of empowering New Yorkers through housing education, financial literacy, and community investment. As a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution, NHSNYC works to increase access to homeownership, preserve affordable housing, and strengthen neighborhoods across the five boroughs.
The RAM program also connects participants to a growing network of property management professionals and ongoing learning opportunities through NHSNYC’s property management initiatives.
With the relaunch of RAM, NHSNYC aims to raise professional standards in property management while helping building owners and managers protect and preserve New York City’s housing stock for the long term.
