I hope this message finds you, your families, loved ones and colleagues in good health and high spirits after a great start to the new year.
I’d like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your continued support of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC). When I joined NHSNYC as its CEO in September 2020, I knew this opportunity came with its challenges. Like many other nonprofit organizations across the City, NHSNYC has been forced to grapple with difficult decisions as we continue to navigate the effects of the pandemic. Despite these obstacles, the unwavering commitment of partners like you has enabled us to maintain critical services to our clients and continue to provide resources to underserved communities across New York. Simply put, we couldn’t do this work without you.
The year 2022 marks NHSNYC’s 40th Anniversary. As we reflect on this organization’s incredible history since its founding in 1982, we also have our sights set on our collective future. We’ve invested in our Leadership Team and Staff with a keen focus on expanding our lending activities. We’re also implementing our new Strategic Plan, which serves as a recommitment to our founding mission of helping people stay in their homes by providing access to affordable loans for rehabilitation and debt consolidation products.
Our first-time homebuyer orientations and financial coaching seminars continue to reach thousands of individuals and families annually, realizing our vision of maximizing the quality of life for New Yorkers through stable, affordable, sustainable homeownership. We will continue this work and build off its success as we expand our lending capabilities to directly reinvest in our community as well.
I look forward to sharing our plans with you over the next year as we celebrate our storied past and work together to achieve a vibrant future for our clients and the communities we serve.
