Derrick Griggs Appointed New Chief Executive Officer of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City

New York, NY (September 15, 2020) – Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (“NHSNYC”) has selected Derrick Griggs as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Griggs assumes the role from interim CEO Patricia Primo who returns to her role as Director of Homeownership & Loan Services.

“I am excited to step into the role of CEO at NHSNYC” says Mr. Griggs. “NHSNYC has a long history of providing quality affordable housing options to families and individuals in New York City.  The team and I will build upon the organization’s strong history and brand recognition to expand the products and services offered to our clients and stakeholders. Our goal is to make NHSNYC the leading CDFI in the New York City Metropolitan area.”

Mr. Griggs, who was recently appointed to the New Jersey Restart and Recovery Advisory Committee by Governor Phil Murphy, for seven years served as the Chief Operating Officer at Monmouth County’s largest non-profit community & real estate development organization, the Affordable Housing Alliance. There he directed the development of over 200 housing units (including two LIHTC developments,) the creation of AHA’s Community Action Agency and the Homeless Shelter for Adults and was instrumental in growing total assets five-fold to over $100 million.

Mr.Griggs attended Rutgers University on the James Dickson Carr Scholarship where he obtained a BS in Finance. While working in finance, he attended Rutgers to pursue an MBA in Management & International Business. In 2016, Mr. Griggs was chosen as one of 50 leaders for the prestigious 18-month “Achieving Excellence Program” at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, which he completed in 2018.
