Compensation: $100,000 to $109,000 annually
About Us: Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc. (NHSNYC) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low- and moderate-income homeowners through affordable home repair and first mortgage loans. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), NHSNYC works to preserve and strengthen communities across New York City. NHSNYC addresses critical housing challenges, including coastal resilience, flood insurance education, and advocating for sustainable living solutions.
Position Summary: The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead NHSNYC’s strategic communication initiatives to amplify the organization’s impact, enhance community engagement, and elevate brand awareness. This role oversees external communications, media relations, digital marketing, and content strategy while aligning with NHSNYC’s mission and goals. The Director reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and manages a communications team to achieve these objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that supports NHSNYC’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the NHSNYC brand across all platforms to ensure consistency and alignment with organizational value.
- Content Creation: Oversee the production of engaging content, including press releases, blogs, newsletters, reports, and social media posts.
- Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national media to secure coverage and spotlight NHSNYC’s initiatives and success stories.
- Digital Marketing: Lead NHSNYC’s digital presence through website management, email campaigns, and social media strategy to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with partners, sponsors, and local leaders to promote workshops, events, and initiatives.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor a communications team, fostering professional development and a collaborative environment.
- Data Analytics: Monitor and report on campaign performance using metrics to refine strategies and demonstrate impact.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 7 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing platforms, including social media, email marketing tools, and analytics software.
- Experience in media relations and crisis communications.
- Commitment to community development and affordable housing initiatives.
